An investor is looking to take control of a parcel of land in Bel Air, Maryland, that is situated right in the heart of historic Bel Air. The Maryland city planning department recently approved an easement for the Bel Air Park to be developed by The Liriodendron Mansion. The planning commission has recommended that The Liriodendron Mansion, which is located directly in the middle of the park, have a zoning classification of Special Use, which allows for building taller buildings than are allowed by current standards. The Liriodendron Mansion is seeking to have its parcel of land included in the national endangered species list. The listing is part of the broader plan to save and protect what is known as the Bel Air Watershed, which is a large park area that is considered critical to the enjoyment of wildlife and natural habitats.
